Young Dancers Program

Since 2005, the CityDance School & Conservatory has been providing high-quality dance training to beginner to pre-professional students ages 3 to 19. The School offers a well-rounded curriculum of Vaganova ballet training and contemporary dance techniques rounded out by jazz, hip-hop and world dance forms taught by world-renowned faculty. Students interested in pre-professional and advanced training may audition for the Conservatory program.

CityDance strives to meet the needs of each individual according to his or her ability and goals, and a student’s level is determined by these factors. For ages 9 and above, a placement audition or placement class is required.

Lower School

Placement audition required.

Lower School students build a solid foundation in classical and contemporary technique and develop their performance skills. Classes emphasize the development of artistic sensibility, musicality and creative thinking. Study in multiple genres is required. At this stage students are eligible to be tracked for the more intensive Conservatory program. All Lower School students participate in the culminating Children & Youth Year-End performance in the main concert hall at Strathmore. For more information, please submit an inquiry here.

Upper School

Placement audition required.

The Upper School is for students who show dedication and promise but may not necessarily desire a professional performance career. Often, Upper School students excel in a single genre or have extra-curricular and academic activities that preclude them from the time commitment required for Conservatory level studies. Students in the Upper School may be identified for Conservatory advancement when they demonstrate elevated technique and artistic promise.
