The Noble Mind: Chronicles of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah

Sunday March 10, 2024 | 5pm | Atlas Performing Arts Center

CityDance Conservatory in partnership with Adjetey Klufio will perform at The Atlas Intersections Festival on March 10th at 5pm. The Noble Mind: Chronicles of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah will unearth the poignant story of Dr. Nkrumah, a Ghanaian leader, who spearheaded the Gold Coast’s independence movement and inspired independence movements throughout Africa. This 1-hour performance will celebrate the rich culture of the Ghanaian people through dance, spoken word, and live drumming.

The Annual Conservatory Concert Series features choreography staged and created by Ballet Master Stanislav Issaev, Artistic Director Lorraine Spiegler, CityDance  Ignite Artist, Sarah J. Ewing and Robert J. Priore, and Teaching Artists/Choreographers Olga Aru, Anna Canova, Alicia Canterna, Ro Cunningham, Asanga Domask, Jenna Hide, Diana Amalfitano Hudson, Adjetey Klufio, Corey Levine, Marianna Rosanova, and Monique N. Walker.

Professional company repertory includes work by Ronen Koresh/Koresh Dance Company and Ignite Artist, Robert J. Priore/Priore Dance and guest choreographers Ryan Bailey, Caroline Rocher Barnes, Brady Farrar, Therese Gahl, Micah Geyer, Rachel Kreiling, Alex Neoral, Tariq Darrell O’Meally, Chitra Subramanian, Keith Thomas, and Robert Tyler.

Award-winning solos from Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), New York City Dance Alliance (NYCDA), and pieces created specifically for NAACP ACT-SO will also be included. Choreography Project works by Conservatory Dancers Avery Brown, Gabrielle and Makenzie Eisle, Sydney Frazier, Ida London, and alumni Richard Frye and Noa Kamiya support the celebration of eighteen  graduating Conservatory seniors during the 2022-2023 season.

The Conservatory Concert (CC) Livestream Package gives you an opportunity to watch all six CC performances for $40. Once you have completed your payment, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed instructions about accessing the Vimeo performance links. 

The following CC performances will be filmed and a recording will be posted to Vimeo by June 5th and shared with you:

The Livestream Vimeo link for CC performances family concerts A2, B2, and Petite 2 will be sent to the email address you provide in the payment form on the day of each concert two hours before it begins. Please note that you will not receive all six links at the same time. The links will be distributed one link at a time on each concert date and recorded performances will be sent by June 5th. 

All six CC recordings will be available for viewing until Monday, June 19th

National Dance Day

Mini Conservatory Performance

At the invitation of the Kennedy Center, students from the Conservatory will perform at the Kennedy Center’s annual National Dance Day event. This event highlights the abundance of dance in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. region. CityDance Conservatory will join an incredible line-up of dance artists, companies, and schools in the area. This event is free and open to all. Street and garage parking available.

Winter Performance Concert Series

December 3-18, 2022 | CityDance Studio Theater at the Music Center at Strathmore

CityDance proudly presents this year’s Conservatory holiday showcase and brings the magic to the CityDance Studio Theater at Strathmore!

The young talents of CityDance Conservatory and the Young Training Program enchant audiences with their annual winter showcase in an exciting program across multiple genres, from Classical Ballet and Modern to Afro-Pop, Sri Lankan, and beyond!

Professional repertory from national and international summer intensive guest companies and artists: Koresh Dance Company, PHILADANCO!, Alex Neoral/Focus Cia de Danca, Elizabeth Gahl/Compagnie Elizabeth Gahl, and Ignite Artists, Asanga Domask and Robert J. Priore will be highlighted.

Creating the Magic features choreography staged and created by Ballet Master Stanislav Issaev, Artistic Director Lorraine Spiegler, CityDance Teaching Artists, and Guest Artists Diana Amalfitano, Ryan Bailey, Alicia Canterna, Micah Geyer, Jenna Hide, Adjetey Klufio, Aranza Lara, Tariq Darrell O’Meally, Robert Tyler, Hunter Tayman, Keith Lamelle Thomas.

Award-winning solos from Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), New York City Dance Alliance (NYCDA), and NAACP ACT-SO National Competition will also be included. Creating the Magic will also celebrate the Conservatory’s eighteen graduating seniors.
