COVID-19 Impact - CityDance Conservatory goes Virtual!
In response to the impact of COVID-19, we have taken our high-quality summer programming online throughout July 31, 2020 so that we can continue to provide training and a support system for all of our students. Learn more about CityDance Online Summer Intensives here. We will confirm if August intensives will be held online or in-studio by mid-July.
As part of our continued goal to identify and incorporate an online educational support system, the School & Conservatory is utilizing the secure Microsoft Teams platform.
In response to the enthusiasm we have received from our students and families, we have opened our online classes to other students in the local and national dance community to support their continued training. If you are interested in learning more about the School & Conservatory's virtual programming, please submit an inquiry here, email email@example.com or call 301.581.5204.
The pain of this pandemic is communal and so must be the response. COME TOGETHER with us to continue transforming lives and communities through dance. Every gift will ensure that we are able to continue offering vital programming to students across the socioeconomic spectrum, nurture the talent of tomorrow's dance professionals and retain the strong local community of dance faculty and artists. All donations to the COME TOGETHER fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Barbara Epstein Foundation up to $125k!
About The Conservatory
Founded in 2007, the CityDance Conservatory offers students specialized training, rich performance opportunities, and strong connections to the professional dance world. The Conservatory is an intensive pre-professional training program that prepares young dancers for professional careers offering a curriculum designed to develop the next generation of performers, artists and innovators. To this end, our program is rooted in the following beliefs:
- Success for the next generation of dancers requires top-notch technical training paired with exposure to a multitude of cultures, perspectives, and genres of dance.
- It is crucial for aspiring young professional artists to have direct interaction with working professional artists
CityDance’s curriculum offers a Vagonava ballet program taught by leading ballet masters such as Stanislav Isaaev and integrated with contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and world dance forms. In addition to regular weekly classes, Conservatory students study with professionals in weekly Saturday master classes; participate in residencies with Guest Artists; receive individual coaching by our world-class faculty; and may be selected for specialized training through our Day Program. Students may also compete at selected ballet competitions such as Youth America Grand Prix and World Ballet Competition.
CityDance Conservatory students are accepted into top summer dance programs such as Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive, American Ballet Theatre, Batsheva’s Summer Course, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Ballet West, Jacobs Pillow, The Royal Ballet, as well as professional companies such as Rubberband Dance, Bruce Wood, San Francisco Ballet, Sibiu Ballet Theater in Romania and The Washington Ballet.
