Beginner Tap

About This Class

Learn the basics and history of the Black American art form of tap dance in this advanced beginner class with Alek Tabu. With a focus on timing and basic tap vocabulary, students will learn how to create rhythm with their feet while building strength and core awareness through combinations set to a variety of music.

The new Spring Session consists of 9 weeks – Wednesday, March 27, 2024 through Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Classes will not be held during CityDance Studios Spring Break – Monday, April 15, 2024 through Sunday, April 21, 2024.

This is an in-person class at CityDance @ Friendship Heights, 5207 Wisconsin Ave NW Washington DC 20015.

Cancellation/Reschedule Policy

If a class has low attendance, it may be subject to cancellation. Cancellation decisions for morning classes will be made by 9pm the night before and for evening classes by 3pm that day. EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 6, 2023: In the event you cannot attend your purchased/scheduled drop-in class, please email adults@citydance.net by 9pm the day before to receive a full credit and/or reschedule your drop-in class. Cancellation emails received after 9pm the night before will receive a 50% class credit. If a cancellation email has not been sent before the start of class, our No Show policy takes effect and you will forfeit the full class credit.
