CityDance and Dance Place co-present S.J. Ewing & Dancers’ TECHNE at Dance Place, March 8 through 14, 2021. TECHNE is a fully immersive, 360-degree virtual reality film that blends contemporary dance, interactive projections and surround sound. The work, created by CityDance Ignite Artist Sarah J. Ewing, features performances by CityDance Conservatory alumnae Grace Cho and Diana Amalfitano and a score by alumna Jade Diouf.
The film, created during a week-long residency at Dance Place earlier this year, leverages technology to bring audience members onto the stage and into the artists’ world. Small groups will enter the Dance Place theater for the first time since the start of the pandemic to experience the film using virtual reality headsets – delivering an entirely new perspective on a contemporary dance performance.
