Pre-Conservatory Program

Overview

Building a Strong Foundation

Our Pre-Conservatory Program provides dancers ages 8–12 with a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate curriculum tailored for young artists passionate about pursuing dance at a high level. Our curriculum delivers a strong classical ballet foundation supplemented by introductory Contemporary techniques as well as opportunities to experience other genres such as tap, hip-hop, and jazz. Students work with faculty as well as professional guest artists learning challenging repertory and preparing for performances.

This program provides a foundation before potential advancement into the Conservatory Program.

For our youngest dancers (age 8) we offer a one-year Preparatory program before committing to the Pre-Conservatory program.

Our Pre-Conservatory program is offered at our North Bethesda and Falls Church locations.

SUMMER

Summer Intensives

CityDance Summer Intensives offer a residency-style program for dancers (ages 9–19) seeking rigorous training and inspiring repertory experiences. Students will train under the guidance of renowned guest artists, professional companies, and our esteemed in-house faculty.

Competitions

Select students may be invited to participate in select competitions such as Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and New York CityDance Alliance (NYCDA). Participation is faculty-directed and based on readiness, ensuring experiences remain developmentally appropriate.

Performance Opportunities

Performance readiness is an integral component of the training experience, helping students grow as confident, expressive artists.

BOYS PROGRAM

Boys / Male-Identifying

CityDance is committed to supporting boys and male-identifying dancers with focused training, mentorship, and a strong peer community. Specialized coaching ensures technical development aligned with classical and contemporary pathways.
