Three Ways to Audition

CityDance Conservatory is an audition-entry program, either through an in-person, in-class, or video audition. Our Programming Directors evaluate each dancer’s technical skill, artistry, physical readiness, and training history to determine placement across our programs.

Within a Class

Audition by taking class during our summer intensives with guest artists such as Nadedja Pavlenko, Koresh Dance Company, Adrienne Canterna, and Kareem Goodwin.

When do CityDance Conservatory Auditions take place?

We hold auditions for year-round and summer programs at various points throughout the year, with Summer Intensives auditions usually running from late fall throughout the spring. At times where no auditions are scheduled, you are welcome to submit a video audition, or inquire about auditioning in-class through our inquiry form.

What should I wear to an audition?

Dress code varies by track:

Ballet: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes (or skin-toned tights and shoes); pointe shoes for pointe work. Alternatively, a white fitted shirt, black tights, and black ballet slippers. Hair in a neat bun, secured off the face and neck.

Contemporary/Jazz: Black leotard with black fitted dance shorts and black jazz shoes or bare feet. Alternatively, a black or white fitted shirt with black biker shorts. Hair in a bun or twist, secured off the face and neck.

I don’t live in the area, do you offer video auditions?

Yes. You are welcome to submit a video audition at any point throughout the year through our video audition form. Make sure to view the video audition requirements before submitting.

Do you offer in – class auditions?

In-class auditions can be scheduled by inquiry only. Submit an inquiry form, and our team will be in touch.

How soon after the audition will I hear?

We aim to be in touch with you within a week of auditioning.
