Trained in Venezuela under the tutelage of Nina Novak, The Raleigh School of Ballet, and graduated from NCSA on full scholarship. Ms. Montoya danced with Carolina Ballet, The Orlando Ballet; and was a guest artist with Teresa Carreño Theatre. She has performed principal roles with Ballet Clasico de Camara in Venezuela, Olney Ballet Theatre, and the Joffrey Concert Group.
Her Repertoire includes Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Napoli “The Pas de Deux Six” Stage by Lloyd Riggins and Niurka Moredo, Swan Lake, Divertimento No. 15 Stage by Anna Marie Holmes, Carmen, Firebird, Nutcracker, Light Rain, Birthday Variations, Le Corsaire, La Bayadere, and more.
Ms. Montoya just completed her 5th season with Columbia Classical Ballet, where she performed several soloist roles in productions such as the Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Paquita, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire to name a few and at Columbia Classical Ballet Life Chance Gala of the Stars.
Professional Accomplishments
- Ms. Montoya was a semifinalist in the Korea International Ballet Competition, and in the Seoul International Ballet Competition in 2009.
- She was also featured in a documentary made by the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City called “A Day in the life of Giovanna Montoya.”
- Ms. Montoya Performed at the Kennedy Center Millennium stage with Moveius Contemporary Ballet. She also performed with Moveius, in San Francisco, and New York City for the Global Climate Submit 2018, and 2019.
- Mrs. Montoya has a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management with Culinary Arts, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration.
- Ms. Montoya started in a short film “El Toreador” by Chad Henderson, Soda City film, for The Second Act Film Project, presented by the Jasper Project in Columbia SC. This film was awarded Best cinematographer, producer’s award (Best Film), audience award, and best actor award. Additionally, this film was recently officially selected for the South Carolina Underground Film Festival.
