Baye & Asa

Amadi ‘Baye’ Washington and Sam ‘Asa’ Pratt are childhood friends who grew up together in New York City and express that shared history in their choreography using Hip Hop and African dance style. They describe their work as employing ‘the rhythms of these techniques [to] inform the way we energetically confront contemporary dance, theater, and film.” Their work has been performed at The Joyce Theater, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Baryshnikov Arts Center, and Jacobs Pillow, among other prestigious venues. They’ve also created works for The Martha Graham Dance Company and Ailvin Ailey II. Their award-winning film work has been presented internationally.
