Born in Washington DC, Alice began her dance training with Jane Bittner and trained extensively with several other renowned teachers including Dawei Zhang, Suzanne Farrell, Patricia McBride, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Violette Verdy, and Truman Finney. She has been fortunate enough to have performed the works of Balanchine (“Serenade,” “Concerto Barocco,” “Western Symphony”), Paul Taylor (“Esplanade,” “Images,””Last Look”), Doug Varone (“Eclipse”), Kate Weare, and Stephen Mills among many others.
Alice received her Bachelor of Science in Ballet and French at Indiana University’s prestigious School of Music and began her professional career as an apprentice with Ballet Austin where she performed with the company for three seasons. She was also a member of Kim Robards Dance in Denver with whom she toured to China, dancing at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. She went on to join Washington DC’s CityDance Ensemble for eight seasons, under the direction of Paul Gordon Emerson where she had the incredible opportunity to perform, tour, and teach with the company throughout the United States and internationally to the Middle East, Eastern Europe, South America, Russia and Eurasia working through the U.S. Department of State as a Cultural Ambassador.
A dance educator for over 25 years, Alice is a founding faculty member of both the CityDance Conservatory at Strathmore and CityDance Studios. She is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Dance Department at American University. She has completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
Alice also teachers yoga and Pilates and is currently pursuing her personal training certification.
