Program Description

YTP is the first step in CityDance’s professional training pipeline and is divided into three progressive levels:

  • YTP I (Ages 7–8)
  • YTP II (Ages 8–9)
  • YTP III (Ages 9–10)

Each cohort follows a thoughtfully structured weekly schedule that is both rigorous and age-appropriate. Students build a strong technical foundation through a combination of required core classes and optional enrichment opportunities.

Most dancers spend one year at each level, but we recognize that every child progresses differently. Some may remain in a level for two years, while others may move ahead more quickly — both paths are supported and celebrated.

Core training includes:

  • Classical Ballet
  • Contemporary Techniques
  • Repertory and Performance Skills

The goal of YTP is to prepare students for the Pre-Conservatory Program, and ultimately for success in the most advanced levels of dance training. With expert instruction from our dedicated faculty, students are nurtured in both their technical development and artistic expression.

Performance Opportunities

New this year:
All YTP dancers will participate in two fully produced stage performances each season:

  • The Nutcracker (Winter)
  • Spring Concert (Spring)

Rehearsals for these productions are built into the weekly class schedule, with an additional six weeks of Saturday afternoon rehearsals in both the fall and spring. While some extra dress and technical rehearsals will be required, they are carefully planned not to significantly increase overall time commitments.
