This class will cover the entire 37 postures Tai Chi form as taught by Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing. Students must already know the choreography of the Tai Chi form. The Corrections form part of this combination class will include a review of the “external” postures, as well as work on the “internal” underlying fundamentals of how movement happens in Tai Chi. In the Sensing Hands portion of the class students will work cooperatively, rather than competitively. Students will develop their ability to “listen” and “stick” to their partner’s movements. They will also learn to detect “resistance” in their partner’s movements, as well as in their own.
The Sword class will review and refine all the movements of the Yang Style Tai Chi Sword form as taught by Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing. In addition to refining each posture, this class will focus on how the principles practiced in the Tai Chi solo manifest in the Sword form. Students will also learn fencing and related partner exercises.
