On March 30th, CityDance Conservatory’s talented alumni and current students performed a vibrant new work on the Kennedy Center Concert Hall stage. Earlier this spring, CityDance was commissioned by The Choral Arts Society of Washington to create a dance piece specifically to the magnificent music of Joseph Hayden’s Creation. Our Choreographer-in-Residence, Robert J. Priore masterfully crafted an ensemble piece which was beautifully conducted by Marie Bucoy-Calavan, Choral Arts’ Artistic Director.
Reflecting on the experience, Priore shared, “Working in collaboration with Choral Arts was truly a wonderful experience. I loved having the chance to work with such a large group of artists on such a classic work.” Current Conservatory students danced alongside CityDance alumni and professional members of Priore’s Compañia Medusa.
Bucoy-Calavan says “Through music, we are reminded to hold gratitude, to see with fresh eyes the wonder woven into the fabric of our daily existence. By joining together in this experience, with the added grace of movement through CityDance and Robert Priore’s inspired choreography, we uplift the spirit and deepen our connection to the divine creativity that flows through all art.”
A huge congratulations to all our talented current and alumni CityDance performers!
