Flamenco Workshop Part 3: Castanets
Location: DC / Friendship Heights
About This Workshop
Pa-rrrria-pi-ta! Castanets are a percussive instrument used in both the Flamenco and Spanish Dance repertoire. In the final installment of this three part series, students will learn basic skills to gradually create the carretilla (roll sound). While beginners practice this new technique and coordinate simple arm movement, those with more experience will learn short choreographic phrases of Seguiriya and Sevillanas.
For ages 13 and up. No dance experience required. Please wear clean-soled sneakers and comfortable clothes. Flamenco shoes and dress optional. Castanets available for purchase.
Location: This is an in-person workshop at CityDance @ Friendship Heights, 5207 Wisconsin Ave NW Washington DC 20015.
