CityDance International Intensive | Ages 9-20
The CityDance International Intensive brings together a talented and exciting lineup of renowned international guest artists as well as American artists who work internationally. This intensive serves to ignite a young dancer’s creativity and accelerate his or her technical and broaden artistic perspectives to reach beyond geographic location and American mainstream dance.
Dancers train across classical ballet and contemporary techniques and have choreography workshops with Vladimir Angelov, Founding and Executive Director, ICONS (The International Choreographers’ Organization and Networking Services).
All students will have a full classical and contemporary technique class each day as well as repertory experiences of high caliber in both genres. Classical repertoire includes classical variations for advanced students as well as ensemble pieces, led by Conservatory Ballet Master Stanislav Issaev, Founding Artistic Director Lorraine Spiegler, and other CityDance teaching artists.
Dancers will present exciting repertory learned from guest artists as well as student-created choreography during the ICONS sessions in the intensive showings. Dancers can participate in one or two weeks of the two-week International intensive.
International artists for 2022 includes Red Sky Performance, the leading company of contemporary Indigenous performance in Canada and worldwide, Alex Neoral, Elizabeth Gahl, Sarah J. Ewing, Vladimir Angelov and Diana Almafitano. Past artists have included Anabelle Lopez Ochoa, YY Dance, Bruce Wood Dance, Yuan Yuan Wang, former artists of Netherlands Dance Theatre, et al.
