Introducing: CityDance International & ICONS Summer Intensive Faculty
Former Netherlands Dance Theater artists Aurélie Cayla and Yvan Dubreuil arrive to CityDance this summer for the CityDance International & ICONS Summer Intensive. The former NDT stars will be here for the first week of the intensive, July 22 - July 26, 2019, teaching alongside ICONS Artistic Director Vladimir Angelov, who will share his choreographic explorations with students. The following week, July 29 - August 2, CityDance Choreographer-in-Residence Robert J. Priore brings his signature contemporary style to the studio. Aurélie and Yvan are also joined by CityDance Ballet Master Stanislav Issaev and faculty member Yeonjin Cho, who will teach ballet technique and repertory both weeks.

Meet Our International Guest Artists
Aurélie Cayla was born in 1980 in Paris, France. She studied at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon, France from 1996-1999. From 1999 to 2002, Ms. Cayla danced with Aalto Ballett Theater in Essen, Germany. She then joined Nederlands Dans Theater 2 from 2002-2005, where she created and danced for many choreographers, such as Johan Inger, Ohad Naharin, Hans van Manen, Paul Lightfoot / Sol Leon and Jiri Kylian.
In 2005, Aurélie was invited to join NDT 1, the main company, where she danced in all performances in Holland and on tour until July 2010. She performed works by Hans Van Manen, William Forsythe, Mats Ek and collaborated on works by Crystal Pite, Paul Lightfoot / Sol Leon, Wayne Mac Gregor and Tero Saarinen. She was also influential in Jiri Kylian’s creations of “Sleepless” (2005), “Tar and Feathers” (2006), “Vanishing Twins” (2008) and “Memoires d’Oubliettes” (2009).
Presently, Aurélie Cayla is dancing as a freelance artist and stages works by Jiri Kylian for international dance companies as well as teaching workshops in schools. Aurélie is also part of the group OFF Projects, created in 2012 around dance works and installations of Dutch-Israeli choreographer-musician Amos Ben Tal, as dancer and group coordinator, since she graduated with a degree in Cultural Mediation-Art Management in September 2012.
Since 2016, Aurélie Cayla has also been responsible for the management of choreographer Johan Inger.
Yvan Dubreuil was born in 1970 in Paris, France. After finishing his training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Yvan joined NDT2 in 1989, and he joined NDT1 from 1991 and danced with the company until 2009. For twenty years, he grew under the creative processes and repertoire of Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Hans Van Manen, Nacho Duato, Johan Inger, Paul Lighfoot, Saburo Teshigawara, Crystal Pite and many others.
Yvan has been an artistic collaborator and a dramaturge for Johan Inger and a ballet master for Jirí Kylian, Johan Inger, Crystal Pite and Hans van Manen, working with world-famous dance companies as well as national schools and educational projects.
He is also part of the creative platform "OFFprojects", closely collaborating as a dramaturge with choreographer Amos Ben-Tal.
