Important: CityDance School & Conservatory Congratulations and Looking ahead to Summer Programming Update as of May 23, 2020
Dear CityDance Family,
Congratulations to all of you on completing a successful 2019-20 season! Today is a very special day because if our world circumstances were different and we were not in the middle of a pandemic, we would have been together watching all your beautiful children dance on the main stage at Strathmore in our annual Children and Youth Concert. We miss this special culminating event and coming together of all our students at every level across the School and Conservatory. We are already looking forward to 2021 when we can hold this wonderful concert again with your children on the main stage at Strathmore!
Many of you have already signed up for our exciting signature summer programming. We are really looking forward to our camps, Dance Up! and Intensives with our professional company partners and guest artists!
We acknowledge that the in-studio experience is optimal for all of our students but in compliance with the State of Maryland order, and COVID-19 pandemic recommendations, we have moved our successful online season program into June and July, and hoping that we will be back in the studio by the end of the summer.
In recognition of the necessity to move to an online experience, we have reduced the summer programming tuition. This reduction reflects our acknowledgement of your willingness to create a home dance environment for your child and our appreciation of your flexibility.
Given your enthusiasm and requests for programming in June, we are adding some special surprise online Select Plus/Conservatory tier classes every evening from 4:00-7:30 PM (excluding Fridays) from June 1, 2020 - June 13, 2020. We are holding the Dance Theatre of Harlem@CityDance Intensive from June 15- 26, Koresh@CityDance Intensive from July 6 -17, and the International Intensive from July 20-31 with guest artists including from Brazil.
We are making tweaks to our August Back to Dance Programming and will still hold a one week Artist-in-Residence Intensive with Robert J, Priore as well as master classes with Stanislav Issaev. In keeping with our recent surveys and your feedback, we have shortened some of the programming, including the June camps and DanceUP!, making half days possible for our students. We have also moved one of the Camps to July and are collaborating with our CityDance POP! Program, particularly for 4-6 year olds to provide more optimal shorter online classes for all of our CityDance Little Movers.
Please look for our email via our Registrar, Sheila Emerson, in the days immediately following the Memorial Day week-end. We will be re-sending your dancer’s summer placements with programming updates and reduced tuition.
CityDance Parents, thank you for your support to CItyDance during this time of uncertainty and for supporting your children in their dance lives here at CityDance. Thank you CityDance students, as always for your talent, dedication, accomplishments and joy for our journey together in and through dance!
It was hard to say goodbye today in our last classes of the season. We look forward to our next dance adventures together online as well as the time we will all be together in the studio and on stage again.
Thinking of you and your families and until we meet again!
