CityDance School Parent Observation Week

Give the Gift of Dance this Holiday Season!

Give the gift of dance this Holiday Season and spend your summer with us at CityDance. Created by Lorraine Spiegler, Artistic Director of the CityDance School and Conservatory, CityDance’s themed children and youth camps  offer learning and fun through culture and creativity. Young dancers learn multi-cultural myths and themes from around the globe and are invited to explore how the tales relate to their daily lives. They take daily classes in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop and world dance forms and learn challenging choreography in multiple styles. Young dancers imagine, improvise and learn to express themselves through the creation of their own dances as well. Dance, ideas, cultural themes, music, visual art and poetry are woven together in a final performance for family and friends.

Summer Intensive Audition Dates

CityDance School and Conservatory students are invited to extend their September-to- June professional training into the summer months. To ensure we know who to expect this summer, we are asking all current students age 8-20 to attend an audition on January 26, 2020 at DREAM School for Dance or February 10, 2020 at CityDance Rockville.

You will need to register for the audition and pay $25 audition fee HERE. You can find more details about the 2020 Summer Intensive Dates HERE.

S&C Attendance Reminder
Classes are structured to begin by warming up the body properly; arriving late to class increases risk of injury and disrupts the concentration of the class. Students arriving up to 10 minutes late will be asked to warm-up appropriately before joining the class. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late may be asked to sit and watch the class. This decision is based on the teacher’s discretion and on the level of the class. Being late or missing class can be disruptive to the overall class as well as impacts the student’s ability to learn and sometimes progress. Attendance will be monitored and addressed as needed. Parents will be notified automatically of student absences. When absences are in excess of three consecutive classes, the parent will be required to inform us of the specific circumstances and provide a doctor’s note or other certification of reason for absence. If a student misses excessively in the 6 weeks leading up to a major concert we reserve the right to take the child out of the concert after a full discussion with school directors, choreographers, and teaching staff.
