Sharing Our Expertise at the National Dance Education Conference!

CityDance POP! Director Ivy Chow and DREAM Instructor Monique Walker presented at the National Dance Education Organization's 19th Annual National Conference “Cultivating Equity and Access: Dance Education for All" in San Antonio, Texas.

Ivy’s presentation, “Grace & Scarcity: Gender Disparity in Today’s Ballet Companies,” focused on the gender disparity that exists in the choreographic narratives and leadership structures of ballet companies. She examined what needs to happen in the world of ballet for companies’ repertory and leadership to represent women more equitably.

“CityDance, Umfundalai, and the DREAM” included a movement session and presentation by Monique that highlighted her work with the CityDance DREAM program.

We are so proud of these ladies for sharing their knowledge and beginning these important conversations in the greater dance community.
