Brightest Young Things photographer Blink Ofanaye joined us inside CulturalDC’s Source Theatre for our co-presentation of Gallery by S. J. Ewing & Dancers last week.
Performed by six female dancers, Gallery is dedicated to the empowerment, fear, strength, vulnerability and resilience of women. The movements are set to an exciting score of house music. CityDance Ignite Artist Sarah J. Ewing explained that the dancers push their bodies to their physical limits as the piece explores how bones, muscles and cells could be the instigators of our movements, tapping into an internal place that is normally ignored, and using that as the framework for the piece.
