An investment in DREAM will impact and transform more lives through dance. Surrounded by a dedicated team of professional teaching artists and experienced social service staff, DREAM students will be armed with the tools and skills necessary to realize their full potential.

Funding opportunities include investing in the CityDance DREAM Center for Dance to provide world-class dance training with wrap-around services for our students’ needs in critical areas of academic support, college preparation and family services. Funding also supports key enrichment experiences and signature DREAM events that offer ongoing programming throughout each calendar year.

Core Funding Opportunities

Dance Training

The CityDance DREAM Center for Dance training program harnesses the talent, drive and desire of our youth to develop artistic sensibility, musicality, and creative thinking. This is achieved through world-class technical training, exposure to a multitude of cultures, perspectives, and genres of dance and direct interaction with professional artists. Through dance, our youth are encouraged to think differently about themselves push through obstacles, and emerge as strong and confident leaders.

FUNDING SUPPORTS:  Weekly Classes; Master Classes & Guest Artist Residencies; Annual Spring Break Trip To NYC; Summer Intensives; Student Dance Attire

Academic Support

The CityDance DREAM Center for Dance Tutoring Program ensures that students have the necessary foundation to help them realize their future potential. Through a variety of workshops and trainings that focus on study methods, organizational skills, and available resources, the Tutoring Program equips DREAM students with the tools to prepare them to independently take ownership of their academic experiences.

College Preparation

The CityDance DREAM Center for Dance Next Step Program delivers both the academic and emotional preparation DREAM students need for their college application process. Through, workshops, seminars, career nights and other resources, DREAM students receive curriculum and life-skills knowledge to equip them with an awareness of the many opportunities and multiple avenues available for accessing higher education.

FUNDING SUPPORTS:  College Tours; SAT Prep; College Apps, Personal Statement & FAFSA; Parent Engagement Workshops; Graduation Ceremony

Family Services

The CityDance DREAM Center for Dance Family Services Program will ensure that students have the necessary services to support the social-emotional well-being of the student, while providing tools for each student to stay the course over the 10-year DREAM journey on campus, at school and at home.

FUNDING SUPPORTS:  In-House Counseling; Direct Referrals; Parent Engagement Workshops

Enrichment Experiences

The CityDance DREAM Center for Dance provides key enrichment activities for DREAM students to enhance their self-awareness. Through trips to view professional dance perfomances and opportunities to provide leadership among their youth peers, these enrichemnent experiences provide students with an understanding of their own abilities and opportunities and exposing them to new ideas and experiences.

FUNDING SUPPORTS:  Field Trips to Professional Dance Performances; Student Leadership Team & Development Activities; Thanksgiving Dinner Celebration

DREAM Connections

DREAM Connections is a 20 week; 1.5hr a week after-school program that takes place on site at multiple schools throughout Washington, DC (11 schools in total as of September 2017). Through a series of dance classes and team building activities, DREAM Connections teaches youth fundamental movement concepts while fostering a greater connection with themselves and their peers, schools and community. The program culminates in a final performance held during a Washington Wizards game.

FUNDING SUPPORTS:  In-School Kick-off Performance; After-school Dance Classes (24 weeks)

Wizards Half Time Performance

Students from the DREAM Center for Dance & DREAM Connections come together on the court of the Captiol One Arena to perform at half-time of a Washington Wizards game alongside more than 100 of their peers. This annual investment need also includes support for five all-student rehearsals with students attending from DREAM schools.

FUNDING SUPPORTS:  Transporatation; Student Food; Parent & Student Tickets to Game; Costumes; Choreographer; Staff Chaperones

DREAM Gala Weekend

CityDance’s DREAMscape gala performance, features jaw-dropping performances by dance superstars benefiting CityDance DREAM at the Historic Lincoln Theater is Washington, DC. The annual spectacular brings together CityDance DREAM and Conservatory students, professional ballet and contemporary notables from the District of Columbia and nationally and internationally touring companies under one roof.

FUNDING SUPPORTS:  Theatre Rental/Tech; Artist Fees; After-party; Marketing
