CityDance’s Community Programs division is a recognized leader of high quality programming for our city’s most underserved students. Over the last 16 years, we have reached tens of thousands of DC metropolitan area students with our free community education programs - after-school programming, summer camps, in-school
arts learning programs and free professional performances.
In 2010, CityDance’s Community Programs division was awarded the DC Mayor’s Arts Award for Outstanding Contribution to Arts Education. This award is due in no small part to our valued partnerships with other community-based organizations, such as DEA Youth Dance, the Sitar Center, KIPP DC Charter Schools, DC Public School, the Perry School, KidPowerDC, the Levine School of Music and others.
Also at the core of this success is our flagship DREAM program, which uses dance as a
vehicle to teach students how to become advocates for change in their own lives and in
their communities.
