“CityDance may offer otherworldly dance, but its message
is very much about this world.”
(Washington Business Journal)
Using art to give voice to the issue of climate change, CityDance continues to explore the intersection between the environment and humanity. In light of the ever-increasing dangers of global warming, this concert merges choreography with caution to incite action against the perils of our carbon footprint.
NEW! Join us for a pre-show symposium on opening night showcasing the extraordinary photography of J Henry Fair. Symposium begins at 7:15pm. Concert begins at 8pm. Plus, don't miss the post-performance discussion with the artists and environmentalists. Speakers include CityDance company members, Richard Moss from the World Wildlife Fund, and more!

Concert features original music made from seismographic readings of active volcanoes
The Mountain, a new dance by company member Jason Garcia Ignacio, will be set to melodies created out of seismic data recorded from three volcanoes. In a synergy between art and science, CityDance is collaborating with Dr. Domenico Vicinanza from Cambridge-based DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe) to create this musical score using the process of "volcano sonification." Watch a short video about this process, or read the press release.
