CityDance Studio Theater
In August 2010, CityDance began Phase I of renovating Studio 405 at the Music Center at Strathmore into a 125 seat Black Box Theater. The CityDance Studio Theater opened in November 2011. It is a professional grade dance studio-by-day and a state-of-the-art theater-by-night. Building this theater has helped CityDance to accomplish its mission of providing the highest quality contemporary dance performance and education programs in the region, while simultaneously creating a space that will benefit generations of Montgomery County students, artists and audience members alike.
Thanks to the generosity of our major donors, The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Carol Trawick, the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation and US Airways Community Foundation, as well our Strathmore family - parents, friends, and faculty, we have raised $275,000. This puts us just $100,000 away from completing the final phase of the theater.
