Founded and operated since 1981 by the Strathmore Hall Foundation, Inc., an independent, 501(c)(3) organization, the arts center presents a lively and diverse program of art exhibitions, concerts and performing arts programs, and literary lectures and events. High quality arts programming, designed for audiences of many tastes, served with the hospitality and warmth of a family enterprise, are the hallmarks of Strathmore. Seasonal outdoor events seek to be inclusive in their programming appeal, reaching out to people of all ages, interests and cultural heritage.

CityDance Ensemble is an artistic partner with the Harman Center for the Arts, the new state-of-the-art theatre complex in the heart of Penn Quarter in downtown Washington, DC. The company peforms a three-weekend season at the Harman Center's Lansburgh Theatre each year.
The Harman Center for the Arts is a 21st-century performing arts center and expanded stage for the Shakespeare Theatre Company and Washington's performing arts community. The Center, which opened in October 2007, consists of the new 775-seat Sidney Harman Hall (6th and F Streets NW) and the existing 451-seat Lansburgh Theatre (7th and E Streets NW). These two superb mid-sized theatres will serve to transform the Shakespeare Theatre Company into a national destination theatre and provide ideal venues for many of Washington's distinguished performing arts companies. Located in the burgeoning Penn Quarter arts and entertainment district, the Harman Center will be a powerful magnet for tourism and an economic engine for the city of Washington.
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra | BSO at Strathmore
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is one of the great orchestras in the world. Now under the baton of Artistic Director Marin Alsop, the BSO is also a long-standing partner of CityDance. In the first three seasons at Strathmore, CityDance was commissioned by the BSO to create three dances for performance with the BSO at both the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore and at the Music Center at Strathmore. In 2008-2009, the partnership continues with a performance of CityDance's signature family show, Jungle Books, at the Meyerhoff. |
